Hayden Parks and Recreation finalizes summer events lineup, names volunteers for key attractions

Hayden Parks and Recreation finalized plans for its summer events at the May 20 meeting, setting dates, programming and volunteer leads for multiple attractions.
Huck Finn Day will be held June 6 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at 3rd Street Park. Colorado Parks and Wildlife will run a fishing derby and an archery activity. Food offerings listed by organizers include hot dogs, drinks, candy, watermelon and chips, and prize bags were planned for children.
Hayden Daze is scheduled for July 17–18, 2026. The band Constant Change is booked, with pre-recorded music planned for Saturday. A beer garden will offer alcoholic and nonalcoholic options; event planners said designated drivers will be offered free water or soda. Event responsibilities were assigned: Jessica will manage Touch a Truck, Adam will manage cornhole, Mike, Mat and Dan will manage disc golf, Kaitlyn (listed as Holly) will lead yoga, Erica will manage the Home Run Derby, and Arts will run the Cardboard Regatta. Two food-truck slots remain available.
Organizers also discussed parade participation, mural ideas and the use of inflatables Friday and Saturday of Hayden Daze. The board noted the selection of beer for the beer garden and that nonalcoholic options would be available.
The board announced Ride the Cog on Aug. 29; the free ride will begin at the granary and end at the taphouse and will offer three separate ride options. Board members and planners said the event will be free to participants.
The board confirmed upcoming sports programs and sponsorships for the season and set the next Parks and Recreation meeting for June 17, 2026. The meeting adjourned at 7:21 p.m.
