At its March 17, 2026 meeting the Santa Cruz Elementary School District #28 Governing Board heard a benefits report and approved a motion to cap the increase in medical premiums that the district will pay, while tabling consideration of an employee-staffing-services agreement with Educational Services, LLC (ESI).
Mrs. Denisse Melendez presented the benefits update, saying the district faces a medical premium increase of 4%, a dental increase of 9% and a life-insurance increase of 9.7%; she reported that the vision plan remains unchanged and said increases will be paid by employees except for life insurance. Following that presentation, Mrs. Debbie Gonzales moved that the district cap the increase it pays toward medical premiums; Dr. Dean Fish seconded and the minutes record the motion as approved. The minutes do not specify the numerical cap or the implementation mechanics of the cap.
A proposed Agreement for Employee Staffing Services between Santa Cruz Elementary School District #28 and Educational Services, LLC was on the agenda but was tabled for a future meeting; no board vote to approve the contract was recorded.
The board listed health/dental/vision-plan approvals and certified-salary-schedule items among future agenda items and scheduled the superintendent contract for the June meeting. The minutes show that benefit-cost changes and contract decisions will return to the board for further detail and implementation steps.
