Tremont Select Board places two harbor ordinances on May 12 warrant, approves warrants and property actions

On Feb. 24 the Tremont Select Board voted unanimously to place revised Wharf and Facilities and Harbor Management ordinances on the May 12 Town Meeting warrant, approved FY25 warrants covering several payments, signed a quitclaim deed for 54 Hodgdon Road, and authorized disposal of a tax-acquired parcel.
The Tremont Select Board voted unanimously Feb. 24 to place revisions to the town’s Wharf and Facilities Ordinance and Harbor Management Ordinance on the May 12, 2025 Town Meeting warrant and to recommend their adoption. The board also approved multiple FY25 warrants, signed a quitclaim deed for a paid property tax lien, and authorized disposal of a tax-acquired parcel after an executive session on property matters.
Select Board member Kevin Buck moved to approve and sign the May 12, 2025 version of the Wharf and Facilities Ordinance, to order it placed on the Town Meeting warrant as an open warrant article and to recommend adoption; Member Eric Eaton seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Later, Select Board member McKenzie Jewett moved to approve and sign the May 12, 2025 version of the Harbor Management Ordinance, to place it on the Town Meeting warrant as an open warrant article and to recommend adoption; Member Howard Goodwin seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
The board approved FY25 warrants #81 through #88 in a single motion made by Select Board member Kevin Buck and seconded by McKenzie Jewett. The warrants included payments of $827.50 (#81), $441.96 (#82), $5,813.06 (#83), $119,000.00 (#84), $171,943.20 (#85), $16,582.04 (#86), $18,381.24 (#87) and $41,038.43 (#88). The motion passed unanimously.
The board also approved a request from the Treasurer to sign a quitclaim release deed to Benjamin Hodgdon and Benjamin Hodgdon II for the property at 54 Hodgdon Road, Tax Map 011, Lot 032C, after finding that assessed liens, fees and costs had been paid. That motion, moved by Kevin Buck and seconded by McKenzie Jewett, passed unanimously.
The Select Board went into executive session under Maine’s confidentiality provision for certain property discussions, cited in the meeting record as 1 M.R.S.A. §405(6)(C), with Town Clerk Sarah Abbott present. After returning to open session the board voted unanimously to authorize the Treasurer to dispose of tax-acquired property located on Tax Map 011, Lot 025-01, with consultation from the Town Attorney.
Town Manager Jesse Dunbar gave a brief verbal report on town employees’ activities since the last meeting. The board confirmed its next regular meeting for Monday, March 3, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. and adjourned at 5:46 p.m.
Items placed on the May 12 warrant will appear as open warrant articles for voter consideration; the Select Board recommended adoption of both harbor-related ordinances but took no final legislative action on them at the Feb. 24 meeting.
