Council members agreed that while AI could be a useful tool, current outputs were unreliable for official records and could introduce errors in minutes or public information. The council passed a motion to adopt an AI policy limiting its use for official tasks and directed staff to monitor developments and revisit the policy as tools improve.
Councilors framed the decision as cautious: they did not ban experimentation in private research, but they will restrict AI-generated content for official recordkeeping until accuracy and attribution issues are resolved.
