Santa Cruz Valley board approves personnel moves, stipend and audit contract extension

At its July 9, 2025 regular meeting the Santa Cruz Valley Union High School District Governing Board approved a series of personnel and consent items, including an athletic director appointment, stipends, hires, and routine finance ratifications.
The board approved Michael Ibarra as Activities Supervisor and Athletic Director for FY 2025–26 after a motion by Mr. Brown and a second by Mr. Olveda; the motion carried with members present voting aye. The board also approved buy-back prep periods for Nico Flores and Eva Miles, an ELL stipend for Esther Cazares, and the appointment of Elena Nunez as a long-term substitute teacher for FY 25/26. The board approved all extra duty stipends for the district and the fall season assistant and volunteer coaches for FY 25/26.
On the consent agenda the board ratified Auxiliary Operations and Student Activities expenditures for June, approved payroll and expense vouchers for June (Payroll: $377,630.71; Expenses: $109,265.41; Grand total: $486,896.12), approved minutes from the June 18, 2025 meeting, approved a one-year extension of CWDL auditing services for FY 25/26, approved student activity fundraisers for FY 25/26, and authorized a $300 cash fund drawer from the Auxiliary Account for FY 25/26. Mr. Brown moved to approve items I.1–I.7 and Mr. Olveda seconded; the motion carried with Ysaguirre, Olveda, Brown and Davis voting aye.
Superintendent Chrystal Reyes also gave a brief monthly update: registration began Monday and she reported roughly 50–55 students registering each day; she said accurate enrollment numbers would be available by the second week of school. Board member Billy Brown requested an update on the Extra Duty pay schedule.
What’s next: The district will proceed with the approved staffing and stipend allocations for FY 25/26 and staff will provide updated enrollment and implementation details as requested by the board.
