Board approves multiple hires, policy adoptions and administrative changes
Summary
The Santa Cruz Valley Union High School District board unanimously approved numerous personnel hires (teachers, coaches, facilities staff), accepted a coach resignation, adopted policy advisories and handbooks, and approved administrative items including GoFan for gate payments.
At its June 18 meeting the Santa Cruz Valley Union High School District Governing Board approved a slate of personnel, policy and administrative items, recording unanimous votes on each motion.
Personnel approvals included hiring Ramon Armenta as both Summer School Bus Driver for FY 24/25 and a bus driver for FY 25/26; Eduardo Gaspar as a teacher for FY 25/26; Dahlia Alaniz, Luis Cervantes and Araceli Hernandez-Lopez as Facilities Assistants for the end of FY 24/25 and FY 25/26; Brittany Moreno for Data Management for PowerSchool for the end of FY 24/25 and FY 25/26; Adriana Gonzales as Dropout Prevention Liaison for the end of FY 24/25 and FY 25/26; and athletic appointments including Ben Rodriguez (Assistant Football Coach), Renardo Street Jr. (Assistant Football Coach) and Jasmin Olivas (Spirit Line Coach). The board accepted the resignation of Martrail Harris as Boys Varsity Basketball Coach for FY 25/26 and approved Doreen Coronado and Lilean Camarena as Student Activities Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer.
On policy and handbooks, the board approved the FY 25/26 Coaches, Staff, Student, Student Athletic and Student Activities handbooks and approved Policy Services Advisory Nos. 866'875 on second reading, covering superintendent qualifications and evaluation, delegated authority, school-based management, and related administration policies.
Administrative items approved included adopting GoFan as an electronic payment option at gates for FY 25/26 and approving the Volunteer Drivers list for FY 25/26. All motions were moved and seconded by board members (most frequently Brown and Moran) and carried with unanimous aye votes recorded from the three present members.
The meeting concluded with an announcement that summer school produced 65 half credits and placed 20 students back on track to graduate. The board adjourned at 6:47 PM.
