Board approves volunteer girls' basketball coach, accepts teacher resignation and ratifies December payroll

During its Jan. 8 meeting the Santa Cruz Valley Union High School District Governing Board approved several personnel and financial consent items.
On personnel, the board voted to approve Calvina Singleton as the girls' basketball volunteer coach for FY 2024–25 (motion by Billy Brown, second by Jerry Olveda), and accepted a letter of resignation from math teacher William Askew effective June 2025 (motion by Ralph Moran, second by Billy Brown). Both motions were carried with recorded ayes.
On consent items the board ratified Auxiliary Operations and Student Activities expenditures for December 2024 and approved payroll and expense vouchers. Reported payroll vouchers #15–#17 totaled $394,376.80; expense vouchers #2517–#2518 totaled $129,584.99, for a combined grand total of $523,961.79. The board approved the regular meeting minutes from Dec. 11, 2024; three members abstained from that vote because they were not on the board or present at the December meeting, and the motion passed with the remaining ayes.
No amendments or stipulations to the personnel approvals were recorded in the minutes.
