Business Manager Elizabeth Ibarra told the board the Adopted Budget matched the Proposed Budget and highlighted several shifts in fund balances.
Ibarra said the district budgeted maintenance and operations (M&O) funds on a flat student count of 400 rather than the 420 used at the 100th-day calculation, producing a $236,745 decrease in the M&O Fund. She also reported a $77,721 increase in the Unrestricted Capital Fund and a $120,817 increase in Classroom Site Funds. Federal funding was reduced by $345,739; Ibarra attributed that change to cuts in federal funding.
Board Member Billy Brown moved to approve the FY 2025–26 Adopted Expenditure Budget and Summary of Expenditure Budget; Mr. Olveda seconded. The motion carried with President Emilio Ysaguirre, Vice President Jerry Olveda, Mr. Brown and Mr. Jordan Davis voting aye; Member Ralph Moran was recorded absent.
The budget vote was the principal formal action on the agenda. The board did not change the figures presented and recorded no amendments at the meeting. The district indicated it will have a more precise enrollment count after the second week of school, which could affect future budget projections.
What’s next: The Adopted Budget was approved as presented and will govern FY 2025–26 spending unless the board later amends it; staff indicated updated enrollment figures will be available in early school year reporting.
