Alma council approves minutes, claims and a sheriff equipment purchase; holds executive session on potential litigation

The Alma City Council approved routine consent items and held an executive session on potential litigation at its Nov. 19 meeting.
The council approved the Nov. 5, 2025 meeting minutes and approved claims and invoices submitted for Nov. 6'19, 2025 totaling $1621493.97 (motion Wheeler/Moulton). Councilman Joel Wheeler questioned a deficit in the October gas department report; Treasurer Tashia Butterfield told the council wages and gas purchases accounted for significant expenses, and the council voted to accept the Treasurer's report (motion Wheeler/Mahalek).
The council approved a request from the Harlan County Sheriff for animal catch-pole equipment, voting to purchase one dog-catching mechanism for the sheriff's office (motion Wheeler/Casper). The council also approved Year-End Certification of City Street Superintendent Reed Miiler for 2025 (Resolution 2026-#3) as described in the minutes (motion Wheeler/Casper).
At 6:15 p.m. the council moved into executive session to discuss potential litigation; present were Mayor Haeker, council members, City Attorney Doug Walker and City Administrator Steve Ardiana. The council returned to open session at 6:37 p.m.; Mayor Haeker said no formal action was taken in executive session. The meeting adjourned at approximately 6:40 p.m.
