Santa Cruz Valley Union High School District board approves annual financial reports, personnel hires and consent items

At a regular meeting Oct. 14 in Eloy, the Santa Cruz Valley Union High School District Governing Board approved the district’s Annual Financial Report, Food Service Annual Financial Report and School Level Reporting and voted to publish those documents on the Arizona Department of Education website.
Superintendent Chrystal Reyes provided the board with the reports and a summary PowerPoint on expenses and projected carryforward. Member Billy Brown moved to approve the reports and publication; Member Jordan Davis seconded. The motion carried unanimously, with President Emilio Ysaguirre, Vice President Jerry Olveda, Brown, Davis and Ralph Moran recorded as voting aye.
The board also approved multiple personnel items. Member Ralph Moran moved to appoint Renardo Street as head boys basketball coach for FY 2025–26; Mr. Olveda seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The board approved Jesus Armida Peinado as a facilities assistant and approved Elvira Reyes-Encinas as a substitute food service worker and substitute facilities assistant. The board also approved the winter-season coaches list for FY 2025–26.
Board members approved consent agenda items including ratification of Auxiliary Operations and Student Activities expenditures for September, ratification of payroll and expense vouchers (total payroll $286,223.92; total expenses $272,324.84; grand total $558,548.76), approval of the Sept. 10 regular meeting minutes, the 2025–2026 Classroom Site Fund Plan, a combined resolution affecting county treasurer transactions for FY 2025–2026, approval for an overnight stay for SC CAVIT students to attend the SkillsUSA conference in early November, and authorization to dispose of listed equipment.
In other business, Superintendent Reyes said the district will purchase equipment for the first phase of a COPS grant security system and later submit for reimbursement. The board heard routine monthly reports from business, food service, facilities, athletics and transportation staff.
All formal motions and votes taken during the meeting were approved unanimously by the five board members present. The meeting adjourned at 6:32 PM.
