Councilman Joel Wheeler questioned whether the appointment should be delayed until the next meeting because there was “no time for consideration” and no information in the meeting packet. Haeker responded that the mayor intends to present appointments in this manner.
Councilman Larry Casper moved to accept Mahalek; Tom Moulton seconded and the motion passed with Casper, Moulton and Wheeler voting yes. After the vote, Chris Mahalek read and signed the oath and took his seat at the council dais.
The action was administrative and final at the meeting; no further public hearing or additional council action on the appointment was recorded.
