Council adopts senior-services contract and approves festival, parks and recreation appropriations

The council also approved changes to an earlier appropriation of $125,000, splitting the amount into two line items for contract labor and a new pickleball-court line item to reflect in-house purchases and supplies. A motion to move the funds passed on a roll-call vote with Barnes, Hastings, Lynch, Pistol, Ward and Williams recorded as voting yes.
Councilors approved an additional appropriation of $6,500 from alcohol sales revenue into contract labor to pay for music and bouncy houses at Archief Fest. The mayor and council discussed using local volunteers and vendors; the motion and second passed unanimously.
The council also approved a one-year renewal of the adult co-ed softball league contract for a $500 fee and a season scheduled May 26–Aug. 7. Members asked staff to consider protective measures for a scoreboard and whether concession operations could expand.
