The Ainsworth City Council approved Resolution 25-82 adopting the city's insurance renewal package for the Oct. 1, 2025–Sept. 30, 2026 policy year and opted for the 5% discount/commitment option.
City staff reviewed the insurer's packet, saying the carrier had proposed a 26% increase in property coverage, a 5% increase in liability and a 5% increase in workers' compensation. Staff calculated the city's total renewal at $145,619; choosing the 5% discount and the associated notice/commitment terms reduced the total to approximately $138,338.
Staff explained the commitment language is primarily a notice-period requirement (typically a 180-day notice to terminate a three-year commitment) rather than an irrevocable multi-year price guarantee, and recommended the discount option given the city's past use of the pool and the administrative continuity it provides.
Council voted to adopt the renewal and take the discount; the motion passed on a roll call with recorded yes votes from the members present.
