The Navajo County Board of Supervisors voted to transfer ownership of the Clay Springs Community Center to the Clay Springs Heritage Foundation during the board meeting.
Staff member Brian (speaker 4) told the board that the property was purchased by the county about 10 years ago and has since been leased to the Clay Springs Heritage Foundation, which operates the center using thrift-store proceeds, volunteer support and other community funds. "This group has requested the opportunity to purchase the building from the county and continue operating the building as a community center," Brian said, and staff recommended the transfer.
Supervisor Seymour (speaker 3) moved to approve the sale; the motion was seconded by the chair (speaker 2) and passed by voice vote. Eleanor Malcolm (speaker 6), president of the Clay Springs Heritage Foundation, told the board the organization appreciates the county's support and looks forward to continuing to run the community space.
The foundation's request, as presented, emphasized the building's role as a community hub adjacent to the playground and noted the group's existing arrangements to fund operations. No fiscal details of the sale or closing timeline were provided during the discussion.
The board publicly congratulated the foundation and attendees after the vote; staff will follow up to complete the transfer and finalize any administrative steps required to convey title.
