Bremen selectmen approve routine appointments, donations and contracts

The Bremen Board of Selectmen met May 21 and approved a series of routine municipal actions, including appointment of ballot clerks, acceptance of a donated set of firefighting items, and several contract and tax matters.
Selectman John "Boe" Marsh called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. On a motion by Selectman Tom Papell, seconded by Marsh, the board approved the list of Ballot Clerks for the Town of Bremen.
Fire Chief Eric Teele told the board he was gifting the Indian tanks and a fast board to the town. The board voted, on motion of Papell and seconded by Marsh, to accept the donation.
The board accepted a roadside mowing bid from Gary Castner in the amount of $1,581.66; the motion was made by Papell and seconded by Marsh and approved 2-0. The selectmen also approved a supplemental tax bill for Chris and Naomi Dickinson removing 3 acres from Tree Growth and imposing a Tree Growth penalty of $10,647.00; that motion likewise carried 2-0.
Additional items approved included acceptance of a letter regarding use of the Town Landing dock and approval of a contract with Midcoast Humane Society, each passed on motions by Papell with Marsh seconding.
Near the close of the meeting the board voted to accept warrants dated April 24 and May 8, 2026, and to approve the minutes of April 16, 2026. The selectmen adjourned at 5:23 p.m.
No formal dissent, roll-call breakdown, or abstentions were recorded; each listed motion is recorded in the minutes as having passed 2-0.
