Selectpersons approve multiple warrants, sign sand contract and authorize listing of tax-acquired lot

The Selectpersons met Aug. 6 at the Municipal Building and approved a series of financial and administrative items, including multiple payables and payroll warrants, a liquor-license renewal and the signing of a sand contract. The board also authorized listing a tax-acquired parcel, Map 111, Lot 009, with Sargent's Real Estate.
The meeting opened at 6:00 p.m. with Jack Bridges, Bill Birdsall, Robin Stratton, Carol Lowrie and Town Clerk Cheryl A. Robinson present; Adam Foster was absent. During public comment resident Ruth Franzius raised concerns about the Planning Board and a shooting-range permit application but no board action on those concerns was recorded.
On motions recorded in the minutes, Bill Birdsall moved and Carol Lowrie seconded that the clerk contact Sargent's Real Estate to list Map 111, Lot 009 for sale; the motion passed 4-0. The minutes record the sand contract as signed during the meeting (no mover/second recorded).
Town Clerk Cheryl A. Robinson presented administrative items and reconciliations. The board approved the Ironbound Liquor license renewal and special amusement permit on a motion by Bill Birdsall, seconded by Carol Lowrie (passed 4-0). The board agreed to participate in the Ellsworth Americans' student welcome; that motion was made by Jack Bridges and seconded by Bill Birdsall (passed 4-0).

Road Commissioner George Moon reported on roadwork: preparing Point Road for paving, removal of approximately 875 yards of roadside material, planned roadside and landfill mowing, and imminent delivery of salt and sand. Moon also noted a previously addressed speed bump request on West Shore Road; no new action was taken.
Clerk Robinson also reported on the Carter's Beach Project and said she would set up a Zoom meeting with Kai from Maine Recovery (FEMA) to discuss the "Randy Ewins situation"; the minutes record this as a scheduling step rather than a board directive.
In other business Selectperson Carol Lowrie asked about filling vacancies on the Board of Appeals; the clerk will speak with Richard (Rick) Merchant about potential appointment.
The meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m. on a motion by Bill Birdsall, seconded by Robin Stratton (passed 4-0).
