The Village of Shelton Board of Trustees on May 8 unanimously approved Resolution No. 25‑05‑08 accepting a $562,000 grant from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development Civic and Community Center Financing Fund (CCCFF) to build a new municipal swimming pool. The board also approved Award Contract No. 25‑03‑337 and authorized the chairman and the village clerk to execute the agreement on the village’s behalf.
The grant award and contract acceptance were presented during the meeting and moved by Trustee Keslar, seconded by Trustee Rabbe; the vote was recorded as five ayes and no nays. The resolution authorizes execution of the form of the agreement as presented to the governing body and directs that an executed copy be affixed to the official proceedings.
Trustees discussed the pool project schedule in the same meeting while weighing whether to apply for a separate parks grant. Board members concluded that pursuing the larger parks grant could delay the pool timeline by about a year and potentially jeopardize the CCCFF award; the board voted not to reapply for the parks grant (see related action). The minutes do not record further contract terms, a construction timeline, or contractor selection; those details will appear in subsequent proceedings or the executed contract.
Next steps: the chairman and Village Clerk Bonnie Doremus are authorized to sign the CCCFF award contract, and staff will proceed with obligations required by the grant agreement.
