Sperrey said the school mil rate is set by the governor at 5.645. She told the board wage increases reflect changes to the minimum wage: support staff will receive 115% of minimum wage, education technicians will receive 125% of minimum wage, and the minimum teacher salary is $40,000. She said trash removal costs for the district will rise by about $14,000 and that four positions are being cut in the coming budget cycle. Sperrey also noted the high school septic system will need replacement by 2034.
The superintendent described the coming cycle as “fairly similar” to the prior year, and said health insurance increases were lower than first reported. The Selectboard received the presentation; the minutes do not record any formal board action on the district budget.
