Tuscarawas County commissioners approve transfers, grants, permits and routine contracts

Scott Reynolds, director of the Office of Community and Economic Development, said the grants line supports special projects intended to benefit local businesses and expand the county economy.
Commissioners also approved Resolution 410, authorizing multiple inter‑fund transfers from the County General fund to grant and operating accounts for third‑quarter 2026. The transfers listed in county records were: Community Corrections $153,360.05; Child Support $42,875.00; Jail Operations $1,360,055.04; Park Department $100,079.06; Distribution Sales Tax Transfer $591,629.00; Public Defender $27,520.42; Dog Pound $25,286.79; Building Improvement (OCED) $105,000.00; and Public Assistance (June mandated share) $16,474.25. The total equals $2,422,279.61.
The board approved a delinquent‑debt collection agreement between the Ohio Attorney General and the Tuscarawas County Juvenile Court; county records show the agreement was approved as to form by County Prosecutor R. Scott Deedrick. The board also declared certain treasurer office equipment obsolete under Ohio Revised Code 307.12(B) and authorized disposal according to state law.
On infrastructure and safety items, the commissioners approved a $66,222 contract with Shelly and Sands, Inc. for roadway reprofiling/resurfacing in the Village of Gnadenhutten (Project #3‑2026). They approved a one‑year proposal from Koorsen Fire & Security for backflow devices, fire alarm/detection systems and sprinkler systems for a county multi‑use facility in the amount of $1,495.98. The board also approved a land‑use planning grant agreement with the Ohio Department of Agriculture.
The board granted two floodplain development permits submitted by Floodplain Coordinator Lee Carl Finley: one for additional condominiums at Eastport Landing Condominiums Association, 5500 Innkeeper St SE, Dennison (Mill Township), and a second for a replacement manufactured home at 6764 Riverside Rd SE, Uhrichsville (Warwick Township). Veronica Spidell, director of Tuscarawas County Job & Family Services, presented and the board approved the department’s June monthly contracts.
