The Gravette School District Board of Education approved a slate of personnel moves, budget and operational items during its June meeting.
Personnel: After executive session, the board approved multiple personnel items, including hiring Terresa Ted and Suzanne Schmidt as school nurses for the 2026–27 school year; hiring Elizabeth Ellis as health and PE teacher (and assistant volleyball/softball coach); transfers and intra‑district moves; and acceptance of several resignations. Each motion was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote in open session.
Compensation and positions: Trustees approved a $3 per hour increase to the current bus driver salary schedule and approved the addition of a classified typing skills instructor position for Gravette Upper Elementary for 2026–27 (funding to be included in the district budget). The board also amended compensation indexing for speech‑language pathologists (approved as 1.1 index in place of the existing stipend).
Calendar and policy: The board set the 2027 graduation date for May 22, 2027, approved the 2026–27 school board calendar (including moving the July meeting to July 13), and authorized submission of ESSA and IDEA assurances to the Arkansas Department of Education. The trustees also approved continuation of current board officers through the November 2026 board election and approved the athletic handbook as submitted.
Facilities and equipment: Trustees approved the sale of several floor‑scrubbing machines on GovDeals and authorized acceptance of quotes and a Crosslin change order for the GHS greenhouse site work (dollar amount of the change order to be presented later). The board authorized execution of a Dell lease purchase agreement for IT equipment with payments to come from the IT operating budget.
Finance: The board moved to approve the monthly financial statement and accepted the financial summary as presented.
Records of motions, seconds and voice votes are recorded in the meeting minutes. Where the transcript records only a voice vote, the board recorded motions as passed; a full roll call was not printed in the verbatim transcript.
