"It's kind of turned into like a software approval committee," committee member Daniel said during the discussion, describing the practical work of inventorying tools and approving known systems so teachers are not required to re‑submit items already vetted.
Administrators told trustees they reviewed existing tools teachers use, approved those that passed security and student‑data checks, and will require staff oversight for any newly proposed tools. The district provides paid staff access to Google Gemini and paid versions of ChatGPT through educational agreements; other services will be evaluated on a case‑by‑case basis. Staff communications about approved tools and the new workflow will be released in August.
Board members asked whether the state could audit the program; administrators said the district could be audited and that the committee has emphasized recordkeeping and data security as part of compliance with applicable state guidance.
