High school addition near completion; board approves greenhouse site work

Crosslin, the district's construction representative, told trustees the high school expansion is about 70% complete and that recent payment documents show most interior finishes are in place.
"We are 70% complete," Crosslin reported during the construction update, noting a May payment application of roughly $1.496 million and that a majority of expensive items are due near project closeout. Crosslin said the project was projecting roughly $165,000 (plus or minus) in savings at present.
Project work noted at the meeting included ceiling tile, classroom flooring, storefront installation and operational RTO (mechanical) units; Crosslin said the transformer and generator have longer lead times and are expected later, with handover targeted around July 15.
Board members asked about a planned 30x60 greenhouse. Crosslin said the greenhouse is planned for the southwest end of the new building near the tackle football field and recommended completing site utilities and a concrete pad before final billing. The trustees approved a motion to accept the vendor quote for the greenhouse and a Crosslin change order to finish site work so installation can proceed before crews leave site.
The vote to approve the greenhouse site work and the related change order carried by voice vote. No dollar amount for the change order was presented at the time of the motion; administrators said they would return with the exact change order amount for the board record.
