The City of West Bend approved awarding Contract 2605 to BMCI Construction to build a cul‑de‑sac at the end of Forge Place, the engineering presenter said June 15. BMCI’s bid of $236,891.01 was reviewed against the city’s internal estimate of about $221,000; engineering staff recommended award and a contingency of approximately 5.5% for a not‑to‑exceed allocation of $250,000, to be funded by TIF 14. "We received one bid... their bid price is about $237,000, and our cost estimate was about 221," Max said.
Members asked whether the single bid reflected the market and whether the price was reasonable; Max responded that the bid was fairly close to the city estimate after reviewing individual bid items. The council approved the award and noted the item will be administered through the engineering department with standard project oversight.
The contract will allow the developer and utility work at the industrial park to finalize configuration at the road terminus and provide permanent road access consistent with the TIF financing plan.
