The commission also reviewed 106 Edgemere Road—a circa‑1950s house that Old Kings approved on May 2—and recorded a unanimous decision not to delay that demolition.
The commission heard from applicant Jeffrey Barone of Custom Crafted Homes, who told commissioners he had inspected 68 Uncle Barney’s Road and expected "there's not too much...salvageable in there," but noted "there is some wide plank flooring" that his team might reuse. He said his replacement plans call for cedar shingles and historically sympathetic colors.
Members emphasized documentation and limited salvage rather than blocking demolition. Rochelle said applicants should upload photographs of all four façades to the commission's digital file and that the commission could ask for salvage of significant materials when feasible. Commissioners also agreed to forward files to the Old Kings district reviewers to ensure district reviewers have the commission’s historical notes when they perform their evaluation.
The vote on 68 Uncle Barney’s Road, as recorded by the chair during the meeting, resulted in three votes opposed to delay, one vote in favor of delay and one member abstaining from a deciding vote; the commission asked staff to record the roll call in the formal letter. The motion not to delay 106 Edgemere Road passed on a roll-call with all present voting "aye."
The commission discussed ways to reduce workload and improve response times—asking staff to copy multiple volunteer members on demolition alerts so more commissioners can perform site checks and avoid last‑minute votes. Chair Rochelle said she will circulate the commission’s letter and the uploaded documentation when available.
