At its Aug. 7 meeting, the Hancock Selectpersons opened a public hearing on the renewal of Ironbound Public House's liquor license and Special Amusement Permit, heard no public comment, and approved the renewal (motion by Bill Birdsall, second by Sam DiBella; passed 3/0).
The board approved a series of financial warrants and routine purchases: Payables Warrant #11 for $41,710.62; HVFD Payables Warrant #10 for $9,018.45; Payroll Warrants #7 for $4,252.11, #9 for $3,727.00 and #12 for $4,175.40. The board also approved purchasing two flat filing cabinets and bases for map storage (motion passed 3/0).
Other actions included approving the road name request to name a subdivision road "Sunrise Ridge Road" (motion by Bill Birdsall, second by Sam DiBella; passed 3/0) and approving minutes from July 17 and the July 31 emergency executive session (motions passed 3/0).
The board entered executive session at 7:45 p.m. under 1 M.R.S.A. §405(6)(A) to discuss a personnel matter and exited at 8:02 p.m. After the executive session the board authorized using Amy Dunn as a consultant/temporary deputy treasurer at a rate of $50 per hour for as many hours as she is needed and authorized Jack Bridges to sign and mail a letter drafted by Dan Pileggi to Diane Simmons via certified mail on Aug. 12, 2024 (motions passed 3/0).
All recorded motions during the meeting carried by 3–0 votes; the minutes list Bill Birdsall as the primary mover on many items and Sam DiBella commonly as second.
