Nutley Public School District honors Governor's Educators of the Year and longtime retirees

The Nutley Public School District used part of its board meeting to honor this year’s building-level honorees selected for the New Jersey Governor's Educator of the Year program and to recognize longtime district retirees.
A district administrator introduced the awards presentations and invited principals to describe each honoree. High school honoree Evan Dickerson was praised for blending English and career-technical instruction, fostering student creativity and producing published student work and local video projects. "He's created a sanctuary of creativity," Principal Dennis Williams said of Dickerson.
Middle-school honoree Molly Milo was recognized for instruction across grades, leadership in transition teams and extensive support for diverse learners. Radcliffe and Yanos schools highlighted service professionals and teachers including Megan Martin, Amanda Scully, Patricia Bartell and Dawn Goldberg for work with students with autism, artistic programming, and student services. Early childhood and pre-K staff recognized included Nicole Pacini (school nurse) and Shannon O'Grady (teacher of the year for the pre-K center).
The board also recognized multiple district retirees for their long service, including educators credited with building inclusive programs, coordinating special-education transitions and providing steady administrative support. Speakers noted service lengths ranging from decades of classroom work to multi-decade administrative careers; specific retirees mentioned included Mora Burn, Mary Gardano, Suzanne Tucci and Angela Garaniano.
The meeting included a brief presentation by Lorraine Kazinski, president of the Nutley Educational Foundation, who announced fundraising proceeds: a recent concert event raised $8,145 for the high school music department with additional funds directed to the foundation to support teacher grants and classroom needs.
The board invited honorees and retirees to the stage for photos and thanked administrators and community partners for organizing the evening. The recognitions concluded before the business portion of the meeting that addressed district operations and facilities.
