RSU 63 board holds budget flat, approves calendar and multiple policies; personnel moves recorded

HOLDEN, Maine — At its March 31 meeting, the RSU 63 Board approved several routine but consequential items, including the 2025–26 school calendar, a packet of employee and copyright policies, and multiple personnel appointments, and the superintendent reported the district budget currently shows a zero percent increase.
Superintendent Jared Fulgoni told the board the RSU 63 budget is moving forward with no overall percent increase and thanked the Budget and Finance Committee and other contributors for keeping the budget fiscally responsible while meeting district needs.
On the calendar, Cherie Faulkner moved and Brittany Wood seconded approval of the 2025–26 school year calendar with a change to Open House times. After extended discussion about the scheduling, the board approved a revision setting Open House for all schools on Monday, Aug. 25, 2025 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. The motion passed with three votes in favor, two opposed and two abstentions.
The board voted 7–0 to approve policies on second review: ECAD (Security Camera System), ECAD-R (Security Camera System Administrative Procedure), EGAD (Copyright Compliance), EGAD-R (Copyright Compliance Administrative Procedure), GCSB (Use of social media by school employees), GCSA (Employee use of school issued computers, devices, and the internet), JICK (Bullying and Cyberbullying), and JICK-R (Bullying and Cyberbullying Administrative Procedures).
Personnel actions recorded included the resignation of Gabrielle Kyes (Ed Tech II) and the appointments of Rebecca Gideon (Girls Softball A coach), Ryan Cahill (Girls Softball B coach), Gene Worcester (Boys Baseball A coach) and Thomas Smith (Boys Baseball B coach). The district also listed active searches for multiple instructional and support roles, including Middle School Principal, multiple special education teachers, an elementary music teacher, MTSS teacher for Holbrook, an ELL/MLL teacher, speech language pathologist, Ed Tech II – Title I/Elementary RTI (Eddington), a spare van driver and bus drivers.
The board accepted written and verbal committee, administrator and superintendent reports on a 7–0 vote and adjourned at 7:28 p.m.
