Florence board makes mayor full‑time, approves slate of appointments and budget amendment

Upon recommendation of Mayor Trey Gunn, the board appointed Alderman Brian Grantham as mayor pro‑tem; the motion carried with Grantham recorded as abstaining. The board unanimously appointed Attorney Bobby Lingold to serve as city attorney and prosecutor and authorized the mayor to execute an agreement with Lingold on the city’s behalf.
The board also approved an agreement to retain Engineering Service and to engage City Engineer Tim Parker under an executed agreement; Linda Wigley was appointed city clerk; Windham & Lacey, PLLC was named municipal auditor; and the board confirmed a number of court and legal appointments, including Brad Burns as police chief, Melissa McCue as court clerk, Kevin Stewart as municipal judge, Witney Adams as judge pro‑tem and Greg Hemphill as indigent attorney. Those motions were recorded as carrying by unanimous vote.
City Clerk Linda Wigley presented and the board approved Budget Amendment #1 for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2025, and declared a list of non‑functioning office equipment surplus, delegating disposal authority to the city clerk. The minutes show the claims docket and the minutes of June 17, 2025 were approved; Aldermen Kyle Martin and Brent Sistrunk were recorded as abstaining on the minutes vote.
The board’s personnel and budget votes take effect as listed in the meeting minutes; the mayor and city staff are authorized to execute related agreements where noted.
