The Laramie City Council approved submission of an FAA Airport Improvement Grant application for apron reconstruction design on June 16.
Councilor Lockhart moved and the council voted 9–0 to authorize the application for Project 03-56-0017-053-2026 in the amount of $628,472. Director Wade, substituting for Director Terrell, explained the grant request covers the design phase of a larger apron reconstruction program that staff estimate at around $15 million in total. The stated airport match for this design phase is approximately $16,500, and Director Wade said there is no city obligation associated with approving the grant submission.
Wade said the apron reconstruction will remove and replace existing concrete bordering previously rehabilitated areas, install subsurface drainage, and improve safety by reducing risks posed by foreign object debris. Two project phases have been completed to date as the airport works toward full apron rehabilitation.
Council asked about anticipated project timing; Director Wade said she would confirm schedule details with Director Terrell. With no public comment, the council approved the submission by roll call.
