During the planning commission's matters segment on June 15, commissioners asked staff for updates on two local redevelopment sites.
Staff reported the proposed senior living development on Oak Park Boulevard did not proceed during the COVID period; the property owner failed to move the project forward, staff took public nuisance action to remove an old rectory, the rectory has been demolished, and the parcel is currently listed for sale.
On the Meyers/WWJ property, staff said a new owner purchased the building last April and planning staff have been working with the owner to develop a site plan that would be approvable — but said the parties have not yet produced a site plan the staff can approve. Commissioners also raised a general question about attracting full-service or fine dining to the city; staff said such uses are harder to secure in the current economy but remain an objective for economic development efforts.
No formal decisions or votes were taken on either property at the meeting.
