Batesville Planning Commission approves new slate of officers

The Batesville Planning Commission approved a new slate of officers during its meeting. After the chair said he would withdraw from consideration because his work schedule will make attending several meetings difficult, members nominated and voted to install new leadership.

Commission members moved to approve a slate naming Joey Marowski as chair, Mr. Fried as vice chair and Mr. Baker as secretary. The motion was made and seconded; members approved the slate by voice vote. The minutes and agenda for the meeting were also approved earlier in the session.

Members discussed the staffing and attendance pressures that prompted the leadership change. The outgoing chair said several future meetings would be difficult for him to attend and that he had taken vacation time to attend the current meeting. Commissioners emphasized the importance of having reliable members to preserve quorum and the commission’s ability to consider time-sensitive projects.

The commission did not announce a roll-call tally for the officer vote; the motion was recorded as passing by the chair. The commission also discussed seeking additional members to reduce scheduling and conflict-of-interest problems and asked staff to circulate the body’s bylaws for review.

The commission adjourned after handling remaining business.
