At a work session on Aug. 18, 2025, Lancaster City Council discussed staff’s proposed updates to the city’s master fee schedule, with council members asking staff to confirm whether a senior exemption and resident golf discounts remain in the draft.
A council member noted that the residential fire-alarm permit line and a no-charge burglar-alarm permit exemption for residents 65 and older appeared to be removed from the redlined draft, asking for clarification. The council member said, “The residential is crossed out, and along with the no charge at burglar alarm permit fee is taken out with police department senior rate, 70 65 or older.”
The city manager responded that the permit is registered under the police and fire permit categories and that an exemption for residents aged 65 and older is available when they register for permits. “So it’s registered under the fire the police permit, and there is an exemption for 65 and older when you register for your permits,” the city manager said.
Council members also asked about a modest increase in golf-course fees and whether a resident discount for Lancaster residents is included. The city manager said the Golf Pro was not present at the meeting and that staff — including the Golf Pro and Councilmember Joglowski — would confirm whether a resident discount remains in the final schedule.
The council did not adopt any changes at the meeting; staff said it would verify the items raised and provide follow-up to council.
