Board begins FY2026–27 budget planning; RSU representative requests budget copy and fielded questions

Sandy River Plantation — The Board of Assessors on Jan. 27 opened preliminary discussion on the FY2026–2027 municipal budget and addressed questions about the regional school unit (RSU) budget.
During public comment, Leslie Ferguson-Packard asked whether a copy of the RSU FY2025–2026 budget was available; Clerk Ethna L. Thompson said a copy is on file and would be provided. Assessor Lisa Kinsman, who identified budget-related questions, directed technical inquiries about student-count methodology and the formula for municipal cost allocations to Leslie Ferguson-Packard in her capacity as the town’s RSU representative.
Assessor Kinsman also shared a document she prepared concerning RSU 78 allocations and noted it is available in the board’s shared documents file for members’ reference. The board distributed quarterly financial reports at the meeting and asked the clerk to prepare a draft budget and draft capital plan for presentation at the second meeting in February.
The board did not take formal budget actions on Jan. 27; members characterized the discussion as preliminary and set a schedule for staff to provide draft materials ahead of further review.
