Fairmount teacher Marcy Susi named Ponapscot County Teacher of the Year

The Bangor School Committee on May 28 recognized Fairmount Gifted and Talented Teacher Marcy Susi as Ponapscot County Teacher of the Year. The district described Susi as "one of those educators" who "leads with kindness, innovation, patience, and an unwavering belief in students," noting her more than three decades in education and current role supporting accelerated learners in grades four and five.
Susi told the committee the honor feels "deeply humbling and emotional," calling her recognition a reflection of students, families, and colleagues. She described Fairmount as "woven into the fabric of who I am" and emphasized that "this recognition may have my name on it, but it truly belongs to my students, my families, my colleagues, and this incredible community." The committee and several members offered congratulations and highlighted the impact she has on students and families across the district.
Susi was also noted for recent selection to serve on a state numeracy advisory council and for roles outside the classroom including fundraiser coordination and program leadership at Fairmount.
