The Bennet City Council on Feb. 9 unanimously voted to award the contract for a new Maintenance Building to Sterup Construction LLC, contingent on the company providing engineered drawings requested by the city.
Utility Superintendent Zach Fergus presented the five bids received for the project, listing Sterup Construction LLC at $90,000; Vasa Construction at $122,279; Morton Buildings at $124,218; Ebbers Construction at $125,526.01; and Elevate Construction LLC at $129,722.04. Dan Zieg moved to award the contract to Sterup Construction LLC, and Jesse Schmidt seconded the motion. The roll-call vote was recorded as YES from Councilmembers Josh Buck, Jesse Schmidt, Pete Simmons and Dan Zieg, and the motion carried.
The award is conditional on Sterup providing engineered drawings and meeting the contract requirements discussed during the meeting. The council discussed elements of the final contract and requested the drawings before final execution to ensure compliance with the city's specifications.
Next steps include the city verifying the engineered drawings and finalizing contract terms; the meeting record notes the award is not final until those documents are received and accepted.
