Beaver Crossing approves park grant, $5,000 interlocal donations and selects contractor for baseball backstop repair

Trustee Kaely Eberspacher moved to approve the Interlocal Upper Big Blue grant application for the Blue River Park and Trail project; Trustee Jerry Zieg seconded and the motion carried 5-0, authorizing the village to participate in the grant effort. The board also approved interlocal payments of $5,000 each to the Beaver Crossing Library and the Beaver Crossing Cemetery (motion by Jere Leif, seconded by Kaely Eberspacher; votes 5-0).
Storm damage to the baseball backstop was submitted to LARM insurance; the village received an insurance check less a $1,000 deductible. Bids from American Fence Co. and Empire Fence were reviewed and Trustee Zieg moved to have American Fence Co. provide materials and work, with some volunteer assistance expected; the motion passed 5-0.
Lance Breitkreutz, representing the New Community Building committee, briefed the board and said the committee favors constructing a new building rather than remodeling the Legion; a public hearing on the project was scheduled for April 23. The board did not adopt any final plan at the meeting; the hearing will allow public questions and answers.
Trustees recorded these actions by roll call vote and asked staff to follow up with procurement and grant paperwork as needed.
