Building administrator highlights holiday events, major donations and PTO support

The building administrator gave a detailed check‑in on December activities at district schools, including holiday singalongs and community visits, volunteer and donor support for holiday gifts, and several facility and program updates.

She said second graders visited Kery Estates to sing for residents, first graders decorated cookies to share, and a third‑grade class visited the Number Eight Schoolhouse in York Woods for activities. The administrator credited donations from a resident in Eliot and local partners that helped provide presents for families and support for York Hospital during the season. "We were able to make some really nice holiday memories for some families," she said.

The administrator described a donor‑funded renovation of staff space and office cabinetry during the break, noting the renovated staff area now "looks like five times as big with seating and lighting" and includes new appliances and storage. She thanked individuals by name who helped organize and clean the space, including Kim Wager and Barb Moyahan, and noted PTO fundraising that raised about $34,500 from a holiday boutique. The PTO also pledged $3,000 toward repairing or replacing the art‑room kiln, an expense the administrator said would provide additional opportunities for students.

The administrator also noted high attendance at school concerts (she estimated roughly 296 children with about 210 participating in the music program) and previewed an upcoming author visit and revived school activities that include a sleepover and kids' night out. The board thanked the administrator for the updates.
