Following an executive session, the Batesville City Council appointed Landon Downing to serve the remainder of a term on the Public Facilities Board. Councilmember Frederick moved to nominate Downing; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
Separately, the mayor announced receipt of a resignation letter from Councilmember Landon Reeves, who represented Ward 1. The council accepted Reeves’ resignation by voice vote. The mayor described the ward boundaries and invited residents of Ward 1 to submit a resume or brief bio to City Hall for consideration; the mayor said the council will interview candidates and present an appointment at the next meeting.
The actions create a current vacancy for Ward 1 and fill a board seat by appointment; any appointee seeking a longer term must participate in the city’s upcoming election process if they wish to continue beyond the appointed term.
