"I, Russ Trimble, mayor of the city of West De Moine, Iowa, do hereby declare Friday, June 19th, 2026 as Junth," Trimble read, urging residents to recall the nation's history and commitment to justice.
The council then recognized Neoth Lodge No. 577 of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons for 125 years of local service, noting the lodge’s scholarship program and community contributions since its founding in Valley Junction on June 6, 1901. Trimble invited lodge members and other attendees to come forward for a photograph with the council.
The proclamations were ceremonial and informational; no formal vote was required. The council moved on to regular business after the photo opportunity.
