Electric, water superintendents brief board on MEAN projects and maintenance

At the Dec. 9, 2025 meeting of the Board of Public Works, Electrical Superintendent Blake Waldow briefed board members on Power Purchase Projects from the Municipal Energy Agency Of NE (MEAN) and reported routine electric-system work.
Waldow said contractor Fast Forward was in Broken Bow conducting thermal work and will return to complete mapping. He reported crews are repairing streetlights, installing ductwork at Eagle Crest, holding safety meetings, performing overhead-hazard vehicle checks and that he plans to attend a generator meeting in Kearney. Waldow also told the board the department sent a bill to CenturyLink for poles.
Water/Sewer Superintendent Ryan Jones reported the south side of Highway 2 is undergoing tie-ins while boring began on the north side. Jones said the blower on Basin 2 has experienced problems and that a technician is scheduled to troubleshoot the issue. He said crews will fix a valve at South 15th and F on Dec. 10, 2025, and are installing new heaters on the decant system.
The reports were delivered as part of the department head updates following routine consent agenda business.
