Bayard council approves $18,500 for Laundromat, purchases 302 Main Street and OKs routine bills and events

The Bayard City Council on March 10 approved several financial and operational items, ranging from LB840 economic assistance to routine bills and a property purchase.

Council member Jamie Hernandez moved to approve an $18,500 LB840 committee recommendation for Bayard Laundromat; the award is split into a $14,500 grant and a $4,000 loan. Diane Kraus seconded and the motion passed on a unanimous roll-call vote (ayes: Henkel, Hernandez, Kraus, Schukei and Baird; nays: none).

The council approved city bills and claims totaling $186,268.05 on a motion by Hernandez and seconded by Garrett Schukei. The bills list included vendor payments and a payroll run of $53,435.47. Separately, the council approved Chimney Rock Villa bills and claims in the amount of $316,134.08 following a motion by Diane Kraus and a second from Jamie Hernandez.

On property matters, Council member Chris Baird moved to approve Resolution 1060 authorizing the purchase of the building at 302 Main Street; Tanner Henkel seconded and the resolution passed unanimously. The meeting record authorizes the purchase but does not state the purchase price or closing terms.

Council approved an agreement with FNBO for placement of an ATM inside the 302 Main Street building after a motion by Chris Baird and a second from Diane Kraus. The council also approved a revised delinquent-accounts agreement that requires the agreement to be signed within five days and payment in full within 60 days; Garrett Schukei seconded that motion.

Looking ahead to community services, the council approved a free dump day for residents on May 2 from 8 a.m. to noon after a motion by Chris Baird; Tanner Henkel seconded and the vote was unanimous.
