The Bayard City Council approved a package of routine fiscal and event items during its Feb. 10 regular meeting, voting unanimously on each recorded motion.
Jessica Dailey of KSO CPAs joined the meeting by phone to present the city’s 2024–25 audit; Council member Chris Baird moved to approve the audit as presented, and the motion passed on a roll call vote. The council also approved an LB840 committee recommendation to assist Brendal’s restaurant with $10,000 — to be split as a $5,000 grant and a $5,000 loan — following a motion by Council member Jamie Hernandez.
Other approvals included a Special Designated License for the Bayard Fire Department Stag Feed scheduled for April 11, 2026, and Resolution 1059 authorizing the lease of a street sweeper. Council approved city bills and claims totaling $221,144.21 and Chimney Rock Villa bills totaling $260,906.84; both motions passed on roll call votes.
Department heads delivered monthly reports: the utility department reported routine maintenance and service activities; police provided enforcement and response statistics; the library reported circulation numbers and a $1,000 intern grant. The council approved the consent agenda, which included minutes from Jan. 13, 2026, treasurer’s reports, and fire department minutes and operational budget.
The meeting concluded when Council member Chris Baird moved to adjourn at 8:33 P.M.; Council member Garrett Schukei seconded and the vote carried.
