Bayard department heads report utilities, parks, police and library activity

City department heads briefed the Bayard City Council on routine operational activity and staffing matters during the April 14 meeting.
Utility staff reported ongoing line locates, treatment-plant issues, coordination with a boring crew related to Viaero work and sewer cleaning with Johnson Services. Parks staff said they had started sprinklers, sprayed weeds and begun seasonal mowing.
Police Chief Douglass presented monthly policing statistics: 36 assists to the public, 13 assists to other agencies, one accident investigation, five citation violations, 21 warning violations, 12 complaints and three investigations. Library staff reported 789 physical checkouts in March, 19 public computer uses and 133 OverDrive checkouts, and said they are planning Summer Reading and Story Time programs.
Council did not record policy changes tied to these reports; the items were entered as department monthly reports in the minutes.
