Middleton parks commission elects chair, approves routine appointments and several actions

At its June 15 meeting the Middleton Parks, Recreation & Forestry Commission elected Andre as chair, kept Katie Nelson as vice chair, confirmed an appointment to the Plan Commission, honored a staff member, and approved several routine motions including a tree-removal contract, splash pad rules and a recommendation of new trail standards to Public Works.
The Middleton Parks, Recreation & Forestry Commission on June 15 elected Andre as its new chair and reappointed Katie Nelson as vice chair before taking up routine agenda business.
Commissioners moved quickly through introductions of new and returning members and then voted to elect Andre to the chair position after David Shaw made the motion and the group seconded. Katie Nelson was nominated and unanimously confirmed to remain vice chair.
The commission also confirmed a nomination to the Plan Commission and held a brief ceremonial recognition for parks crew member Chris Weber’s 10 years of service.
Several procedural motions were approved later in the agenda: the commission recommended that city finance and common council approve a tree-removal and stump-grinding contract (see separate story), authorized staff to install Lake View Park splash-pad signage and rules with staff edits, and recommended adoption of standardized path-and-trail construction specifications to Public Works. Each motion was moved, seconded, and carried by voice vote.
The meeting adjourned at about 8:13 p.m.
