Each motion was moved, seconded and recorded by the chair as unanimous.
Shawn, the superintendent, walked the board through the script and logistics for the district's May 13 annual budget meeting, explaining that a moderator will be sworn in, assigned board members will move specific articles, and the moderator will manage audience questions from the microphone. He said the meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Marina Cook Community Middle School cafeteria and noted that, "we can record it, but we can't live stream it. There we go. Because of state statute," citing a statutory limit on live streaming.
The board accepted donations listed in the meeting packet, including gifts to the district food pantry. Personnel items included acceptance of second probationary contracts and approval of first continuing contract teachers as recommended by the superintendent. The board also approved second readings of EBBD and EBCB as recommended by the policy committee.
The superintendent emphasized that the annual meeting will follow a scripted format: the moderator introduces each article, an assigned board member makes the motion and explains it briefly, the moderator opens the floor for questions and comments, then walks participants through the vote and announces the result.
