The Westport Island Select Board on April 21 approved routine warrants and minutes, opened and accepted a single bid for the town assessor and accepted two resignations.
The board moved and voted to approve payroll warrant no. 90 and accounts-payable warrant no. 91 and to accept the minutes of the April 14, 2025 meeting.
The board then opened bids for the assessor agent for fiscal year 2025–26 and received one submission from RCAS Assessment Services, submitted by Josh Barry, who the bid identifies as the town’s present assessor. The bid presented a one-year contract running July 2025 to June 2026 with a stated price of $24,000 (described in the bid as $2,000 per month). The board moved to approve the RCAS one‑year contract and the motion carried.
Two resignations were presented and accepted. The board accepted a resignation from Kevin, who wrote that he must step down immediately from his alternate position on the shellfish committee. The board also accepted a resignation from Richard Freeze from the RSU 12 school board, effective close of business June 10, 2025; April will research whether the vacancy can be placed on the ballot or how to fill the remaining year of the term.
No recorded roll-call tallies were included in the record; motions were seconded and approved with the board responding "all in favor." The board scheduled follow-up research on replacement procedures for the RSU 12 seat.
The meeting then continued with staff announcements and community items before adjourning.
