The Independent School District 834 Board of Education voted 7-0 Dec. 16 to certify the 2025 payable 2026 property tax levy at a total of $66,565,780.02.
The levy adopted by the board is allocated as follows: General Fund $45,122,334.60; Community Service Fund $1,322,474.12; Debt Service $20,120,971.30. The motion to certify carried on a motion from Alison Sherman and was seconded by Andrew Thelander.
Superintendent remarks earlier in the meeting provided context for district budget priorities, noting recent efforts to stabilize leadership and align spending to support curriculum, professional development and scheduling changes implemented since 2022. The board’s certification of the levy establishes the district’s property-tax-supported revenue for the 2026 payable year.
Board members did not attach roll-call vote-by-name to the levy motion in the public minutes; the meeting record shows the motion carried unanimously. The board approved additional agenda items later in the meeting, including the Lake Elmo Elementary purchase agreement and personnel contracts.
