Roxbury selectmen approve routine town business, set meeting and referendum dates

The Town of Roxbury Board of Selectmen met Oct. 11 and approved a series of administrative items and scheduling decisions affecting town operations and upcoming referendums.
The board voted to remove culvert cleaning from the summer-roads schedule and to treat culvert work as a different seasonal task. Selectman Timothy Derouche moved the culvert-cleaning change and Selectman Matthew Patneaude seconded; the motion passed 2-0. The board also approved the Planning Board secretary appointment arrangement, and moved to send the town's draft Sign Ordinance to the town lawyer for review; those motions carried 2-0.
The selectmen set the Annual Town Meeting for noon on March 19, 2023, and authorized several election-related notices: they signed the warrant and notice of election for the RSU 10 referendum (election Tuesday, Nov. 8) and signed a Region 9 warrant and notice calling a Region 9 School of Applied Technology referendum under 20-A M.R.S. §8465(1) and 1351–1354 to permit the region to apply for a grant. Both warrant-notice motions were made by Timothy Derouche, seconded by Matthew Patneaude, and approved 2-0.
The board approved several operational calendar items: allowing the town office to remain closed Wednesday morning after the Nov. 8 election until 11 a.m., and closing the office on Friday for Veterans Day; both motions passed 2-0. The board also signed the dog-license notice and finalized signing an approved warrant totaling $27,500.16.
Why it matters: Several of these votes establish notice and scheduling for town-wide referendums and adjust municipal operations that affect residents (office hours, meeting dates and maintenance planning). The RSU 10 and Region 9 warrant notices set the formal process for voters to consider school-related measures on Nov. 8.
