Fire Chief Zach Reed presented the Chisago City Fire Department’s 2025 report to the council on Feb. 24, noting 96 calls for service in 2025, an increase from the prior year and continued mutual aid participation.
Reed said department staffing remains at 18 members with recent retirements and ongoing recruitment. Training hours exceeded required minimums and staff expanded training emphases to include hazardous materials response, technical rescue, electric vehicle incidents, and Emergency Medical Responder certification for all firefighters.
Equipment updates noted in the report include deployment of a new water rescue vehicle, planned replacement of aging radios and extrication tools, and an identified upcoming need for a utility vehicle and an SCBA compressor system. The department remained active in community events and outreach during 2025.
Chief Reed presented the report for council awareness; no formal council action was required.
