Chisago City Council approves vacation of platted right-of-way in Chisago Plat

The Chisago City Council on Feb. 24 unanimously approved a petition by the Chisago City Economic Development Authority to vacate a platted street right-of-way and associated drainage and utility easements in the Chisago Plat.
Associate Planner Leah Nelson explained the earlier design of the right-of-way provided access to three separate lots; the EDA now prefers a single-lot configuration and no longer needs the road extension. Nelson said the EDA will establish new drainage and utility easements in the new preliminary plat.
During the public hearing the council opened for comments, adjacent property owner Aaron Alkrich asked for clarification about the location of the vacation relative to his property. After closing the hearing, Council member Marie Rivers moved to approve the vacation and authorize execution of Resolution 26-02-02; Council member Mark Anderson seconded and the motion passed 5–0.
The resolution authorizes the vacation as requested by the Chisago City EDA; staff will ensure replacement drainage and utility easements are established with the new plat before the city records final changes.
